Premium Wine Grapes
At tanner vineyards, we produce premium quality wine grapes by using traditional practices and lavishing care on our vineyard and vines.
Our single-minded focus at Tanner Vineyards is on quality over quantity. Our grapes are harvested by hand and we pay special attention not to overcrop our vines. Our vineyard yields approximately 3.5 tons/acre.
Tanner Vineyards is located in Calaveras County within the Sierra Foothills AVA.
Tanner Vineyards was planted in 1998. We grow 9 varietals on 32 acres of well-drained, volcanic soil with southern exposure. The top of the vineyard is at 2,000 feet elevation and benefits from a Delta breeze. The rows are east-west oriented for maximum air flow. During the growing season, the vineyard experiences warm days and cooler nights.
Our trellis system is a modified quadrilateral lyre system for optimum sunlight exposure and air movement. Fruiting wires are set at 48” high to maximize air flow, minimize frost risk, and to accommodate hand-harvesting. We farm with sustainable, integrated best practices using conservative biological, cultural and ecological solutions.
We grow and sell Barbera, Cabernet Sauvignon, Carignane, Mourvèdre, Petite Sirah, Petit Verdot, Syrah, Vermentino and Viognier.
